The city of Porto has a lot of options for accommodation. There are affordable youth hostels, luxury hotels, and five-star hotels around the city centre where Porto 1 is located. The University of Porto also offers various options for student accommodation such as student halls, flat sharing, room rentals, and accommodation in 'family homes.'

Hotels and Accommodation

Visitors who intend to stay for just a few days in the city can get accommodation at the very affordable youth hostel located in Street Pablo of Gamma, 551 - 4169-006.

The Da Bolsa Hotel is a reasonably priced hotel located in the old town. Guests will be treated to a fantastic view of the riverbank at Vila Nova Gaia. The hotel has a total of 36 rooms.

The Hotel Boa-Vista is conveniently located in the heart of the city right in front of the boardwalk. It has 71 rooms, a rooftop pool, bar, restaurant, and dry cleaning and laundry services.

Student Accommodation

The university has five halls of residence, which include two residences in Glad Field, one in Paranhos, one in Bandeirihina, and one in D. Pedro V. Requests and applications for accommodation in the student halls are processed on a 'first-come, first-served' basis by the International Students' Office (SRI). Students are encouraged to apply as early as possible. The SRI also provides information on accommodation in private houses located all over the City. It has an up-to-date database of contacts offering flats, houses, and rooms for rent for student-sharing at student rates.

Students can also get accommodation in a 'family home', which is usually cheaper than sharing a flat with other students. However, more restrictions are enforced in family homes, depending on the host families' house rules and regulations.
